An incredible sight
I looked up and saw a ladies in her twenties, relatively skinny, holding two kids( about 2 & 4 yrs. Old), and shouting her number to a car in the intersection. She repeated the number about 5 times while talking on her cell phone and crossing the street.

charger
My charger degenerated. One of the prongs remained in the wall when a student pulled it out so that ended that. The charger was $8. It was a loss. But I had three chargers. One came with my replacement phone, one I bought cuz I forgot it in bay area.

miracles
My most expensive sandals. Less than a year later they are broken. Sad. However, someone helped me find them when they were lost in Nigeria. I was blessed.
So here's the story. I land in Abuja and kick it with my cousin for a few days. Then some guys who work with GCM give me a ride from Abuja to Jos. This trip takes about 8 hours. First we stop to visit the driver's brother in Kaduna. I'm kind of worried because I look Nigerian but I don't talk or act like one so I don't want to offend anyone. Anyways I sit on a tree log as the ladies are braiding hair. I don't say anything because I don't think they speak English. Then I ask a question and we start talking and it's not bad at all. We get back in the Van. I'm still having a good time talking with George. Although George is a bit older than me, he lived in the US for grad school and is pretty laid back. I tell him I want to come live in Nigeria and he is very encouraging. On our way to Jos we see a gas station so we stop. The line for gas was out to the street. Most of the gas stations we passed did not have gas, so when we finally saw one that had some, we stopped even though the line was out of control. I got out the car to go look for a sweater (cuz the line is really long). I didn't find a sweater so I went back to the van. We probably spent about an hour at the gas station. Then right before we get to Jos, George announces that he needs to buy credit for his phone. So the driver stops and gets him a card. When we arrive at our destination, I can't find one of my sandals. I think that when we take all the luggage out I'll find it. I get out the van and the guys search it and there is no sandal. I'm mildly concerned because I only brought one pair of sandals, and one pair of running shoes. But I only have dresses and skirts because it's a conservative area. The thought of wearing dresses and running shoes is mildly worrisome, but what other choice is there?
Well the next night someone knocks on my door. It's a young guy. I'm like what? But I open the door anyway. He found my sandal on the side of the road! Is that cute or what?

Fire drills can be fun. But they are long and I feel a heavy weight of responsibility for the 30+ students in my class.

Maybe I should take a Photo class...
I don't know how to use cameras. But while I was at my friends house I had a kid take a picture. It was crazy cuz his mom is in her 40's and has this huge camera that she can barely use. Then her 8 year old son walks by and totally sets it up for her. I just wander what my babies(if I have any) will teach me.

Afghanistan
This is where I had lunch. A nice Afghan restaurant in Sac. It was really nice, because we sat on the carpet at a low table and ate food that reminded me of Central Asia. Plus it was nice to hang out with my friend as they get ready to leave California.
